Movies we've seen

They may not be good, and they may not be new, but dammit, we've seen them.

The Greatest Show on Earth

The Greatest Show on Earth came out in 1952, and when I was a kid it came on AMC a lot so I would watch it. When I first sat down to watch it this time, I thought there must have been a lot of parts I didn’t understand as a child.

Then I realized that this whole movie is somewhat like a circus poster. There’s only about 30 minutes of legitimate story, and it’s easy enough for a kid to understand. Halfway through the movie Michael and I both recalled getting the spinning tiger-head flashlight from Ringling Brothers and I decided we need to go to Sarasota to go to the museum. (Sorry, sidenote…)

The rest of it is awesome pictures, exciting stunts and extravagant costumes. Plus, Charlton Heston growls a lot. You never see Jimmy Stewart’s face, but you can hear his voice, and that’s mostly all that counts.

Enjoy.
