Movies we've seen

They may not be good, and they may not be new, but dammit, we've seen them.

For New Orleans

We are driving to New Orleans right now, so I am contacting you via iPhone. I knew this infernal thing was good for something. A few nights ago, I watched Suddenly, Last Summer, starring Liz Taylor and Montgomery Clift. It’s set in New Orleans and based on a play by Tennessee Williams, so I thought of it on the road.

It follows the story of “crazy” girl Catherine as her family (Kate Hepburn) tries to have her lobotomized instead of allowing her to tell the truth about what happened to her cousin last summer.

The movie had all of the melodrama I expected including a sort of ludicrous performance by Taylor. Even still, there was legitmate suspense surrounding the story that included vague nefarious tones and it made me want to read the play. I’ll let you know how that goes.
